International Education Week Keynote Speaker: Christie Vilsack, Senior Advisor for International Education at USAID

Christie Vilsack, Senior Advisor for International Education at the U.S. Agency for International Development, will speak on Thursday, November 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Her talk, "Let Girls Learn: Education in Developing Countries," will discuss USAID's education strategy. This is a free event.

Global Design with Phil Duncan

Phil Duncan, global design officer for The Procter & Gamble Company, will speak on Wednesday, November 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the UKAA Auditorium inside W.T. Young Library. There will be a reception following the talk.

International Games Day

International Games Day will be on Wednesday, November 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. in room B-108C inside W.T. Young Library. This free event features an afternoon of gaming with a variety of card, board and video games. Live music, fresly popped popcorn and soft drinks will be available to students as they enjoy games and learn about different countries.

Education Abroad Open House

The Education Abroad Open House will be a free event on Tuesday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third floor of Bradley Hall. Students interested in education abroad can learn about the different education abroad programs and scholarship opportunities. Education Abroad Peer Ambassadors will be available to answer specific questions about education abroad.

The Vexillology (the study of maps) Contest

The Vexillology Contest is a weeklong event during UK's International Education week where you can test your knowledge of Middle Eastern countries by identifying the flags hanging in the W.T. Young Library Atrium. Entries can be submitted online or as a paper copy. Paper entries should be deposited in the box at the Circulation Desk in the W.T. Young Library starting on November 17. The winner will be announced on November 24 and will receive a $15 Starbucks gift card.

Education Abroad Open House

Students interested in education abroad programs can find all the information they need for their international adventures at the Education Abroad Open House.

This free event takes place on Tuesday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third floor of Bradley Hall, where students can learn about education abroad programs and scholarship opportunities—and enjoy some free snacks.

Procter & Gamble Company's Global Design Officer will discuss Global Design

Phil Duncan, Global Design Officer for The Procter & Gamble Company, will share his insights on global design during International Education Week.

This free event on Wednesday, November 19 at 3:30 p.m. in the UKAA Auditorium in Young Library will feature a talk by Duncan and a reception afterward.

Senior Advisor for USAID to Present 'Let Girls Learn: Education in Developing Countries'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2014) Christie Vilsack, Senior Advisor for International Education at the U.S. Agency for International Development, will visit the University of Kentucky on Thursday, November 20, as part of UK's International Education Week.

Speaking at 6 p.m. in Memorial Hall, Vilsack will discuss USAID’s education strategy in her presentation titled, "Let Girls Learn: Education in Developing Countries."

UK joins Clinton Global Initiative University Network

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 6, 2014) — University of Kentucky has joined the Clinton Global Initiative University Network, a growing consortium of colleges and universities that support, mentor and provide seed funding to student leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs who are developing solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. UK is now one of more than 40 colleges and universities worldwide that have joined the CGI University Network.

The Israelite Samaritan Today: Past, Present and Looking to the Future

Speaker Benyamim (Benny) Tsedaka recently published "The Israelite Samaritan Version of the Torah: First English Translation Compared with the Masoretic Version" with Eerdmans Publishing. His talk will be on December 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the UKAA Auditorium at William T. Young Library.
