The Japanese Programs Kindergarten is housed in the University of Kentucky International Center. The primary purposes of the School are to help Japanese children (4 and 5 years old) maintain a level of proficiency and learn Japanese culture, so that they will be able to adjust smoothly to the Japanese educational system when they return to Japan.
The University of Kentucky has been running the Japanese Programs Kindergarten since April 1996, when the Japanese Programs Kindergarten was established as a part of the University Extension.
The main office of the Japanese Programs Kindergarten is in Frazee Hall. The classes are held at the Edythe J. Hayes Middle School.
