Recently the college of Fine Arts welcomed a group of students and faculty from Shanghai University interested in learning about art and design through the Confucius Institute. This annual exchange program has been in place since 2011 and presents SHU students and faculty with a valuable opportunity to experience both UK and American culture.
During their time on campus, our Chinese students participated in a ceramics class led by Associate Professor Hunter Stamps and a digital media design class led by Lecturer Mathew Page and Lecturer Steven Sewell. These two classes allowed the students to broaden their Knowledge of American art and culture.
The summer camp also included several tours to attractions around Lexington, such as the Henry Clay Estate, the Lexington Farmer’s Market, the Kentucky Horse Park, and Keeneland.
“It is truly an amazing experience for me. I totally fell in Love with UK and Lexington.” said Lan Tian, one of the students from SHU.
