A group of University of Kentucky College of Agriculture students and one student from the University of Missouri Columbia participated in a five week field course that gave them first hand experiences in agriculture, ecology, and sustainable development in Indonesia, led by University of Kentucky professor Krista Jacobson. While in Indonesia, the students learned about key issues effecting Indonesian agriculture, tourism and agricultural policies.
The course included lectures, field observations, course literature, and other material to help the students develop a better understanding of the different dimensions of Indonesian agriculture and development. The students also had opportunities to work with and amongst students and faculty at a number of Indonesian universities in Sumatra, Central Java, and Bali.
This program is a result of the U.S.- Indonesia Council and their efforts to expand education abroad experiences in Indonesia. You can learn more about the UK students wonderful opportunity here.
