Shoulder to Shoulder Global breaks ground on new health facility

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 16, 2024) — For more than 16 years, Shoulder to Shoulder Global (STSG) has made a difference in the health of the local population of Santo Domingo, Ecuador. A part of University of Kentucky's Global Health Initiatives in the UK International Center, Shoulder to Shoulder’s programs also have been transformative for UK faculty, staff and student participants who take part in the regular short-term experiences in global health. 

UK Contracts with New Assistance Organization to Support International Travel

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2024) ⁠—The UK International Center and UK Risk Management are excited to announce a new partnership between the University and International SOS which will provide additional resources to support the health, safety, and security of members of the UK community traveling internationally. 

UK Surgery faculty make first in-person visit to Zambia’s largest teaching hospital through ACS H.O.P.E.

After years of virtual meetings and long-distance conversation, faculty members from the UK College of Medicine Department of Surgery were finally able to meet face-to-face with colleagues from the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, Zambia last January as part of the American College of Surgeons’ Health Outreach Program for Equity in Global Surgery (ACS H.O.P.E.).
