Bradley Hall Flags Show Breadth of UK Community

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2014) — The flags displayed on Bradley Hall serve as much more than a decoration identifying the UK International Center (UKIC). The flags also represent the home countries of UK's international students, who hail from more than 120 countries.
 

Student Panel to Bridge the International Gap on UK’s Campus

UK’s International Student Council (ISC) is hosting a student panel titled “Bridge the Differences: A Dialogue” that will explore how UK can help international student organizations bridge differences and find solutions to the various issues that international students face on UK’s campus.

The event will be held on Monday, November 17 at 3:30 p.m. in the Niles Gallery during International Education Week. All students, faculty and staff are invited to join this free event; refreshments will be served.

Record-breaking International Student Enrollment Enriches UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 15, 2014) — A record number of international undergraduate students from 107 different countries are enriching UK's campus with diversity, culture and innovation.

Currently, 807 international undergraduate students are on campus, which is a record-breaking 32 percent increase over last year.  In 2007 there were only 185 international undergraduate students on UK's campus, which means enrollment has grown 336 percent since then.

International Tent/Tailgate Party

All international alumni, Education Abroad alumni, IHP families, faculty, staff and students are invited to a celebration of UK’s international family.

The International Tent/Tailgate Party will take place on Saturday, October 11, at 10 a.m., two hours before UK's football game against the University of Louisiana Monroe. The tent will be located near the corner of University Drive and Cooper Drive, see map below.

UK Students Named Fulbright Recipients

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 27, 2014) — University of Kentucky Office of External Scholarships has announced that four UK students have been selected as recipients of Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships. The UK recipients are among approximately 1,800 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2014-2015 academic year through the prestigious program.

Practitioners lead professions, while scholars conduct research. There is often a clear division between these two roles, but not at the University of Kentucky International Center (UKIC).

Kentucky Students Down Under

An experience abroad is a life changing and extraordinarily rewarding adventure. University of Kentucky seniors Kendall Mallory and Courtney Crume are encountering their own adventure at Charles Sturt University and their pilot program, The Scots School in Bathurst, Austrailia.

The duo was featured in Bathurst's Western Advocate newspaper, which highlighted their experience in various programs at Charles Sturt University.

Economic Development Forum hosted by ONE

Join us for an exciting event Wednesday, April 2 at William T. Young Library. The University of Kentucky's ONE organization will host the Economic Development Forum to discuss global poverty, developing economically, and the role of advocacy.

The ONE organization is a student, faculty, and alumni alliance that joins together to take meaningful advocacy actions. This incredible organization urges political leaders to support programs that save lives and create sustainable futures in the developing world through action-oriented challenges.

On Saturday, March 29th the International Center and Diversity Education & Community Building have partnered to host 2014's Cross Cultural Workshop. Join us for an excursion designed to promote positive interaction between international and domestic students at Natural Bridge State Resort Park.
