UK Offers New Scholarships for International Students


The University of Kentucky is now offering three new exciting scholarship opportunities that incoming freshman international students can apply for! The See Blue, Bluegrass Spirit, and Kentucky Heritage scholarships are automatically awarded to incoming students who meet the criteria. 

ISSS Offers Courses to Help UK Administrators Hire International Faculty and Staff


International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is offering courses for UK administrators to help them understand the process of employing international faculty and staff.

“ISSS is delighted to reach out to departments administrators in order to support and facilitate the employment of international faculty and staff,” said Elizabeth Leibach, director of ISSS.  “International faculty and staff are critical to the values embedded in internationalizing the campus.  Assisting departments in securing a diverse workforce is integral to our mission.”  

ISSS to Host Brown Bag Workshop Series

The International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS), in the UK International Center, is offering three Brown Bag Lunch Workshops to help UK’s academic advisors understand the process of working with international undergraduate students.

Students from Saudi Arabia visit UK College of Pharmacy

Six students from Jazan University, in Saudi Arabia, spent four weeks studying clinical pharmacy at UK’s top-ranked College of Pharmacy.

Jazan University, a public research university based in the city of Jazan, which rests by the Red Sea on the southwest coast of Saudi Arabia, is the first clinical pharmacy college in Saudi Arabia to offer the doctor of pharmacy degree.

Recent International Alumni Learns Music in Another Language

For one University of Kentucky (UK) alumni, distance was no object when pursuing his dreams of becoming an opera singer.

Francisco Bedoy, a 24-year-old UK graduate, grew up in Ayutla, Jalisco, Mexico, where he developed a strong interest in vocal performance from an early age. “I’ve always loved singing,” Bedoy said. “It’s a way for me to share my thoughts and feelings without any sort of barrier holding me back.”

After attending the University of Guadalajara for one year, Bedoy began looking abroad for opportunities to improve his talent.

Global Initiative: Menore Lake started the online news magazine “World Report”

Few students have the kind of passion for world news that recently-graduated International Studies major MeNore Lake has. Two years ago she sought to fulfill a need at the University of Kentucky through this passion. She wanted to create an online news publication that would publish monthly articles written by students about international politics, economies, science, sports, and culture, and thus The World Report was born.

UK Welcomes Students From Brazil Scientific Mobility Program

Twenty-five Brazilian students will become Kentucky wildcats in the fall, as part of UK's partnership with the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP) and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
