UKCI Hosts Orientation for New K-12 Teachers of 2015

2015 UKCI Distinguished Scholar Lecture: 10/16!

Join the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute (UKCI) in welcoming Dr. Robin R. Wang as the first speaker in the 2015 Distinguished Scholars Series. Her lecture, entitled Yinyang: The Way of Ways, and discussion will take place on Friday, Oct. 16 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm in the Patterson Office Tower 18th Floor, West-End Lobby, with a reception to follow. 9/26: UKCI Celebrates Confucius Institute Day!

Join the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute (UKCI) for a celebration of Confucius Institute Day this Saturday, September 26 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the corner of Cooper and University Drive. As a part of this celebration, UKCI teachers and staff will lead activities related to Chinese language, painting, calligraphy, music, Kongfu and Taiji, among many others. Catering will also be provided free of charge, so please join us for the festivities this weekend! Additional details available on the attached poster. 


Dr. A. E. Clark to Give Lecture on Oct. 1

Join the University of Kentucky Chinese Studies Program in welcoming Dr. Anthony E. Clark who will give a Visiting Scholar Lecture entitled, "A Culture of Resistance: Catholic Women and Social Reform in Republican China," on October 1 at 7:30 pm in the William T. Young Library Auditorium. Dr. Clark is the Edward B. Lindaman Endowed Chair in Chinese History at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.

10/3: Shanghai University Troupe to Perform at UK

Founded in 2005, the Shanghai University Folk Music Troupe is comprised of more than 40 students who major or excel in folk music. Pictured on the attached poster from left to right are soloists Ms. Huaqing Ren (Erhu player), Ms. Cong Sheng (pianist), Ms. Ye Xia (Pipa player), Ms. Min Yuan (Erhu player), Dr. Lin Shan (Conductor), and Dr. Chunyi Xu (Kung Fu Master).

The UK Confucius Institute and UK Education Abroad recently collaborated to offer a programming site visit to China. The visit allowed faculty and staff members from across different colleges to learn first-hand about international higher education issues in China and to explore education abroad programming opportunities for UK students to study in China.
