First PD Conference in 2015

UKCI held the first PD in 2015 on the UK campus on January 17. Dr. Huajing Maske, Director of UKCI, presented a speech entitled How to Celebrate the Chinese New Year to approximately 40 UKCI Chinese teachers and volunteer teachers.

The First Chinese Film Series Presented By The Late Night Film Series

The Late Night Film Series and The Department of Modern and Classical Languages have teamed up to present to students, faculty, and families our first Chinese Film Series.  This series focuses on a variety of films that reflect contemporary Chinese culture.  It is the intention of this series to give a better understanding of how China came to be today.  By showing both films and documentaries, we hope to present multiple perspectives about China.  The films are screened on Thursdays at 7pm at Worsham Theater in the Student Center.  Free popcorn will be availa

China Research: Social Media, Social Distance, and Memoryscapes

Learn about geography and China at this week’s Geography Colloquium presentation by Dr. Stan Brunn,"China Research: Social Media, Social Distance, and Memoryscapes.” As a Visiting Professor at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming, China during the 2013-2014 academic year, Dr. Brunn collaborated on research projects with colleagues and students in China. Dr. Brunn will discuss these projects and lead a discussion about geography and China. The event takes place Friday, October 10 at 3:30 pm in 238 Whitehall Classroom Building.

UK Confucius Institute Director Wins KWLA Award

This weekend, Huajing Maske, executive director of the Office of China Initiatives and director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky, will receive the Amici Linguarum (Friend of Languages) Award given by the Kentucky World Language Association (KWLA).

Xu Qingping was a professor of Art History and a memeber of the academic committee of Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is Deputy Curator of Xu Beihong Museum, Vice Chairman of Chinese Painters ad Calligraphers Association and Dean of Xu Beihong Arts Research Academy, Renmin University of China.
