Summer 2014 EA Programs


UK Education Abroad has released the inaugural edition of its new digital catalog for summer programs.

The catalog has become necessary due to the growth and diversity of faculty-directed programs. Last year UK faculty led over 40 programs throughout the world.

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Lecture at UK About China

Gov. Jon HuntsmanFormer governor of Utah, 2012 presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to China and Singapore Gov. Jon Huntsman discussed, “China: Opportunities and Challenges” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20 in UK’s Memorial Hall. The talk was free and open to the public, but tickets were required. 

UK Confucius Institute Director Wins International Award

Huajing Maske, director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky, has received a 2013 Confucius Institute Individual Performance Excellence Award. The honor recognizes UK's director as one of the top 15 leaders of 430 Confucius Institutes worldwide.

UK Ranked First in Kentucky for Sending Students Abroad

The University of Kentucky has more students participating in Education Abroad (EA) programs than any other higher education institution in Kentucky, according to recently released data by the Institute of International Education. The 2013 Open Doors Report revealed that UK sent 845 students abroad in the 2011-12 academic year.

The report also showed that UK enrolls more international students (nearly 1,900 in 2011-12) than any other institution in the state, a lead the university has maintained for many years.

Blue Abroad Bash

On Wednesday, January 29 from 10:00 to 2:00, UK Education Abroad will host its "Blue Abroad Bash" in the Buell Armory.

From a very early age, University of Kentucky junior Roshan Palli saw the ambition in the eyes of his father, UK entomology Professor Subba Palli. As a child, he would follow his father into his lab at the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

EA Faculty-Director Workshop Series

Throughout the Winter and Spring, UK Education Abroad will host a series of workshops for faculty directing UK Sponsored Programs.  From start to finish, these workshops are designed to help faculty run successful education abroad programs.

ISSS Offers Courses About Immigration and Working with International Students and Staff

The International Student and Scholars Services (ISSS)  is offering courses through the myUK self-service tab on various topics related to engagement with international students, faculty and visiting scholars. 

Nearly everyone on UK’s campus collaborates with international students, faculty, and staff. One of ISSS’s primary roles is to facilitate these interactions by promoting cross-cultural awareness and offering professional immigration advising.
