Georgianne Tiu

Georgianne Tiu is working on a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Kentucky. Growing up in Harlan County, Kentucky, she learned firsthand about the difficulties that a physician shortage can create for a rural population. This knowledge led her to pursue applied research which may impact physician recruitment and retention to underserved areas.

Jay Swacker

Jay Swacker, a student in the Masters of Hospital Administration program at the University of Kentucky, is currently employed full-time in the University of Kentucky's Center for Public Health Services and Systems Research.  Jay has already earned a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.  Jay is interested in areas "where population health and clinical health converge."  His practicum placement at the White House Clinics, supported by a stipend from the Kentucky and Appalachia Public Health Training Center, provided an opportunity for Jay to bring together his strong analytical background with his new understanding of health care and public health.
