Jay Swacker

Jay Swacker, a student in the Masters of Hospital Administration program at the University of Kentucky, is currently employed full-time in the University of Kentucky's Center for Public Health Services and Systems Research.  Jay has already earned a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.  Jay is interested in areas "where population health and clinical health converge."  His practicum placement at the White House Clinics, supported by a stipend from the Kentucky and Appalachia Public Health Training Center, provided an opportunity for Jay to bring together his strong analytical background with his new understanding of health care and public health.  His key project utilized the Clinics’ new Electronic Health Record to develop a dashboard.  This highly innovative project may serve as a quality improvement model for other clinics nationwide as they seek to provide the best possible care to underserved communities. Jay also shadowed the clinic CEO and was privy to all the conversations that led to the opening of a new clinic site.
