Approximately 70 samplers and water enthusiasts attended the 2019 Annual Conference to hear about the 2018 sampling results and learn about important water quality issues. The data summary presentation, annual report and a summary of 2018 results are now posted on our Results page. Congratulations to Jack Stickney of the Red River Watershed for being selected as KRWW's Volunteer of the Year!
In 2017, the Kentucky Division of Water and Watershed Watch began a pilot lake sampling effort at three Kentucky lakes - Herrington Lake, Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. Through this new initiative, ten dedicated samplers learned how to record various water quality observations and reported 42 samples from 11 sites in Herrington Lake between May and October of 2017. You can view their results online by clicking here. This effort will continue in 2018 and provides helpful data and citizen engagement with detecting potential harmful algal blooms, which would necessitate state-issued public health advisories. More information on this new lake program can be found by clicking here.
