Jan Findlay PhD, MSN, APRN
Assistant Professor, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing DNP Track Coordinator

Dr. Findlay is the coordinator of the Graduate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Track in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. Her expertise includes qualitative research on decision-making and health behaviors among African-American adults diagnosed with schizophrenia. She has 19 years of advanced practice psychiatric mental health nursing experience, including the treatment of clients with serious mental health illness, and has practiced in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. She has 16 years of research experience, with more than four years of this time spent working on psychiatric research teams in university settings prior to beginning her PhD studies. During this four-year period, she worked as a psychiatric research study coordinator and research nurse both with industry-sponsored clinical drug trials and independent retrospective studies. Her research activities have included study recruitment, data collection, IRB document preparation, maintenance of research records and training in the administration of multiple psychiatric clinical rating scales. She was also a co-author and presented research findings at national conferences.
