Open Faculty Positions

The UK College of Nursing has the following open faculty positions:

 

Regular Title Series (Tenure-Track) Associate Professor or Professor: Graduate Program (Research-focused)

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing invites qualified applicants for this full-time (up to 12-month) position in the College of Nursing. This tenure-track position will report to the Associate Dean of Research and PhD Faculty Affairs. Expectations of the position include maintaining an active program of research supported by extramural funding; ongoing record of scholarly productivity including publications and presentations; teaching to include classroom and online instruction; advising and mentoring graduate students; serving on PhD and DNP student advisory committees appropriate to candidate’s expertise; active involvement in university and college committees as well as service to the profession.

Qualifications include a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree or comparable research-focused doctorate in nursing or related field. Applicants with a nursing degree must be eligible for or hold RN licensure in the state of Kentucky. A research program aligned with prevention of diseases with a high incidence in the state of Kentucky including cancer, cardiovascular disease and substance abuse, or in other areas of faculty research strength including health disparities; health policy; human lactation; maternal-child health and perinatal addiction; radon and other environmental risk reduction; self-care of chronic conditions; or tobacco prevention, treatment and/or policy is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have an established record of extramural research funding and scholarly productivity, including peer reviewed publications and presentations; potential for research collaboration with other faculty members; experience teaching, including online and/or distance learning format; evidence of successful mentorship of doctoral students including student scholarship and the capacity to support the university's strategic objective of facilitating interdisciplinary research and collaborative scholarship.

Special Title Series (Tenure-Track) Assistant or Associate Professor: Graduate Program (Practice-focused)

The University of Kentucky College of Nursing invites qualified applicants for this full-time (10-month) tenure-track position with primary responsibilities for teaching in areas of expertise at both Lexington and Louisville sites including online or classroom instruction; advising and mentoring DNP students and serving on DNP and PhD student advisory committees appropriate to candidate’s expertise; clinical supervision of DNP students; maintaining a record of scholarly productivity; active involvement in university and college committees as well as service to the profession as well as maintaining a limited clinical appointment appropriate to the candidate’s credentials.

The ideal candidate will have a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) or doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree or other doctorate in nursing with a certification as an advance practice nurse in one of the following specialties: acute care or primary care, with appropriate credentials and expertise. Candidate must be eligible for licensure as an advance practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Kentucky.  Experience shall include teaching experience teaching including online and/or distance learning format; evidence of successful doctoral student mentorship; expertise in area of clinical specialty; evidence of excellence in clinical practice o; credentials for an appointment at UK HealthCare and/or UK affiliate, and potential to serve as coordinator of appropriate clinical specialty track. 

Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
