UK OCSS found that Northeastern University had a program called the Breakfast Club. The focus of the program was to clean-up the neighborhood streets after campus events. UK OCSS approached UK Sustainability, UK Athletics, UK Center for Community Outreach (UKCCO), UK Student Government Association (UKSGA), and Keep Lexington Beautiful for support to start a similar program here at UK. As a result of the outreach to UKCCO we found out that they started a group in the summer of 2016 called UK Community Action Team (CAT). CAT took over the development of the Wildcat Clean-up with support from the areas that OCSS connected with for Wildcat Clean-up.
Fall 2016 Results:
Over the course of the four dates, 50 students, including members of Sigma Pi Fraternity, racked up 110 volunteer hours. The program was able to clean-up roughly 1740 pounds of litter, debris, and recyclable cans.
