Personal Safety Tips
257-SAFE is the University of Kentucky's One-Number Coordinated Student Safety Services Program.
257-SAFE can connect you to the following services:
- SAFECATS student safety escort service: This is a free safety escort service sponsored by UKPD and operated by the Flying Wildcats Booster Club, a student organization of the Air Force ROTC. Escorts have undergone UKPD training and criminal background checks.
- After-hours on-demand CATS bus service: Parking and Transportation provides on-call bus services at varying hours on Sunday-Thursday during the fall and spring semesters when class is in official session.
- UK Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center: The VIP Center works with faculty, staff, students and community partners toward the mission of eliminating the perpetration of power-based personal violence including sexual assault, partner violence and stalking.
- UK-Resource and Referral Line: The Counseling and Testing Center provides information regarding suicide prevention services on campus through the UK Resource and Referral Line.
Safecats Hearing Impaired service:
A: A service designed to accommodate the needs of the hearing impaired.
B: Hearing impaired seeking to utilize the service should email SAFECATS, and expect a prompt response. If a response is not rendered within 15 minutes of the original email, clientele should resend the email.
UK-LiveSafe with the LiveSafe App "Through iPhone and Android devices, students can report GPS-tagged information with added pictures, video, and audio clips. Safety officials are able to respond to students via a Command Dashboard using a real-time two-way chat, or investigate further using the information submitted to officials."

Kentucky Wildcab is a free, late night on-demand transportation option for UK students, provided by the UK Student Government Association and operated by UK Transportation Services using 4-, 7- and 12-passenger vehicles. Kentucky Wildcab will operate Thursday through Saturday, from 10 p.m. through 3 a.m., when fall and spring semester classes are in session. This free service is primarily designed to provide a ride home to UK students and their guests while promoting responsible late-night transportation decisions. Kentucky Wildcab is limited to the general campus vicinity. The pre-established travel zone is designed to accommodate the majority of areas adjacent to campus frequented by students and is generally bounded by Clays Mill and Red Mile Road to the west, Sixth Street to the north, Tates Creek to the east and Southland Drive to the south.
