National Dump the Pump Day is June 16
On Thursday, June 16, LexTran will join other public transportation systems across the country to participate in the Sixth Annual National Dump the Pump Day. National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car.
All LexTran and American Red Cross WHEELS trips will be free for the day. Lextran will also distribute reusable green tote bags to their passengers. Fifteen lucky passengers will also find a "golden ticket," which can be redeemed for one of two prizes, a 30-day pass or a 20-ride pass.
For more information on LexTran’s Dump the Pump Day events or for route and schedule information, visit www.lextran.com.
S. Limestone/Nicholasville Rd. Paving to Begin June 20
The portion of South Limestone/Nicholasville Road from Southland Drive to the Avenue of Champions will undergo repaving. Milling of the roadway will begin on Monday, June 20. This work is scheduled for evenings and weekends only, but anyone who uses this route may experience slower than normal traffic flow, and should plan accordingly. Motor vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic may be affected.
The project is expected to last two weeks. As always, construction is weather-dependent and the timetable is subject to change.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
