Semester Break Parking and Transit Changes
During the break between the fall and spring semesters, demand for student parking is greatly reduced. As a result, Parking and Transportation Services does not control many of the student areas for permits during this period.
In general, all Residential (R) lots and all single use Commuter (C) lots are off control from Saturday, Dec. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 8. All joint use Employee/Commuter lots will remain on control for permits during the semester break. All lots will resume normal control on Monday, Jan. 9, except the K portions of Commonwealth Stadium, R2, R6, R7, R8, R9, and evening controlled areas. These areas will resume control on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Please note - all parking meters will remain on control during the semester break.
CATS and Lextran campus bus service will not operate between semesters. The on-demand night bus will resume service on Sunday, Jan. 8, to accommodate students returning to campus. The on-demand bus will not run on Monday and Tuesday, and will resume full service on Wed. Jan 11. All CATS service and the Lextran Stadium Route service will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
For the 2011-12 semester break, PTS will operate two CATS buses on the Summer/Break Route. The abbreviated route will run Dec. 19 - 23 and Jan. 3 - 10 from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please view the Summer/Break Route for pick-up times and locations.
The Medical Center Shuttle will not have service on Dec. 26 or Jan. 2. To support continual operations at the UK Hospital, the route will run 6:00 a.m. until midnight Dec. 27 - 30, but with only two buses on the route. The route will return to normal service on Jan. 3.
The KY Clinic Shuttle will not have service on Dec. 26 or Jan. 2; however, it will run a regular schedule on Dec. 27-30. The route will resume normal operation on Jan. 3.
During the semester break, UK HealthCare employees are encouraged to park in Parking Structure #1 on Veterans Drive, Parking Structure #2 on Hilltop Avenue, or in student resident (R) lots that are not controlled for permits between Dec. 17 and Jan. 8.
