Free Rides for Students to Blue Grass Airport, March 8-9

For University of Kentucky students, preparations for Spring Break are underway. To help simplify travel from campus to students’ Spring Break destinations, University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is offering free transportation to Blue Grass Airport.

The shuttle will operate Thursday, March 8, and Friday, March 9, with daily campus pick-up times of 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Students should plan to leave campus at least two hours prior to their scheduled flight departure.

To schedule a pick-up, email with the subject “Spring Break Shuttle” at least 48 hours in advance and provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Campus address
  • Phone number
  • Date, time and location of campus pick-up

A representative from Parking & Transportation Services will email or call to confirm a pick-up time and location. Please note, students are responsible for their own transportation back to campus.

All aboard for destination Spring Break! PTS still has spots available on the Ride Home Express, an express bus service traveling to hometowns and break destinations during the major academic breaks.

For the 2012 edition of the Spring Break Ride Home Express, PTS will only operate the Chicago area route, which has a total of five stops. The final destinations include Louisville, KY; Indianapolis, IN; Lafayette, IN; Merrillville, IN and Naperville, IL.

Round-trip fares for the PTS Ride Home Express range from $49-$149, with prices varying based on the final destination. UK students are able to register and pay for their trip via the web by logging on to the Parking Account Manager with their Link Blue ID. One-way tickets are also available; however, customers choosing this option must visit the PTS office in Parking Structure #6, located at the corner of Press and Virginia Avenues.

PTS recommends registering for the trip as soon as possible. Space is limited, and seats will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
