University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation Services: Parking E-newsletter
March 8, 2013

Spring Break Parking and Transportation Changes

During Spring Break, the campus population diminishes significantly, resulting in greatly reduced parking and transportation needs. Parking and Transportation Services will make several changes during the break that include easing parking restrictions and reducing bus service.

In general, all Residential (R) lots and the C6 commuter lot are off control from Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 17. The C8 lot, the R6 Wildcat Coal Lodge lot and all Employee (E) lots will remain on control.

The Medical Center and the Kentucky Clinic Routes will continue to run their normal schedule, and one CATS bus will operate on the Summer/Break Route. Summer/Break Route service will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to accommodate those who remain on campus during break. Finally, the On-Demand Night Service will continue operations. All other CATS and Lextran campus bus service will cease during Spring Break.

The On-Demand Night Service will run on Sunday, March 17, with service beginning at 7 p.m. All other campus bus service will return to normal operations on Monday, March 18.

Portion of Large Student Center Lot Temporarily Unavailable

A portion of the large Student Center E lot will be unavailable from the evening of Friday, March 8, through Tuesday, March 12, to accommodate the installation of a band tower. Approximately 78 spaces will be impacted during the project. The spaces are expected to re-open by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12; however, the work is weather-dependent and the timetable is subject to change.

Members of the University community with valid E permits who normally park their vehicles in this lot may park in other E lots on campus. Go to www.uky.edu/pts/parking-info_parking-maps to view a campus parking map.

Employees who typically park on North Campus should plan accordingly and allow extra time in arriving to work.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
