PTS Hosts Annual Free Fourth of July Fireworks Viewing
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) invites the University community to its annual fireworks viewing on the top deck of Parking Structure #5, in conjunction with Lexington’s Independence Day celebration. Parking Structure #5 is located on South Limestone, next to Kennedy Book Store.
Any member of the University community possessing a valid UK parking permit may park in the structure free of charge to view the fireworks from the upper level. Those planning to attend the fireworks viewing may enter the parking garage only from the South Limestone side. The gates will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. The top deck lights will be turned off during the display to enhance the viewing experience.
Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, and food and drink are permitted. Restrooms will be available on site. Grills, alcohol and fireworks (including sparklers) are not permitted. Animals are prohibited, with the exception of service animals. UKPD will be present to enforce these restrictions.
No CATS Bus Service on Thursday, July 4
PTS will not offer any bus service on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. This includes the CATS Summer/Break Route, the Medical Center Route and the Kentucky Clinic Route. All bus service will resume normal operations on Friday, July 5.
As a reminder, riders can view the actual location of all CATS buses on all routes by using Cat Tracker, a real-time GPS-based bus locating system. Visit http://uky.transloc.com. You can also track the buses via the free Transloc iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps, by using your smart phone to scan the QR codes found on each bus stop sign or by using the SMS codes found at each bus stop.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
