Thanksgiving Break Parking and Shuttle Changes
Beginning Tuesday, November 26, Parking & Transportation Services’ (PTS) operations will have several changes due to the decreased demand over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Due to the home football game on Saturday, November 30, students and employees who normally park in the areas surrounding Commonwealth Stadium must move their vehicles before leaving for Thanksgiving Break. Impacted permit holders may relocate to non-gated E areas found in the map on the Football Game Day Parking Page starting at noon on Tuesday, November 26. Parking is prohibited on University Drive at any time on game days. Students leaving campus prior to noon Tuesday who park in the K areas may email email@example.com for instructions on relocating their vehicles.
All non-gated Employee (E) lots, single use Commuter (C) lots and Residential (R) lots, with the exception of R17 (Wildcat Coal Lodge), will not be controlled for parking permits beginning at noon on Tuesday, November 26 through Sunday, December 1. However, normal football game day parking restrictions will remain in place on Saturday, November 30.
On Wednesday, November 27, the regular CATS routes (Red, Blue and Yellow Night) and Lextran Stadium Route service will not be running. CATS buses will operate on the Summer/Break Route schedule from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Medical Center and Kentucky Clinic Routes will operate as normal.
No campus buses will run Thursday, November 28 through Saturday, November 30. On Sunday, December 1, the CATS Bus On-Demand Service will operate during its normal service hours (7 p.m. to midnight). All other campus bus service will resume a normal schedule on Monday, December 2.
Women’s Basketball Game to Impact Campus Wednesday
On Wednesday, November 27, the UK women’s basketball team will host Bradley at noon in Memorial Coliseum. As a result, North Campus will have an influx of visitors parking on campus.
UK women’s basketball fans may choose to pay to park in the South Limestone Garage (PS #5), located on South Limestone next to Kennedy’s Wildcat Den. Employees and students who normally park in this structure should be aware of this potential impact, and allow plenty of time to arrive on campus.
Members of the University community who normally park their vehicles on North Campus may need to utilize other parking and are encouraged to allow extra commuting time. Go to www.uky.edu/pts/parking-info_parking-maps to view a campus parking map.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
