Construction Parking Impacts
North Campus Housing Project
The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees approved the next phase in the modernization of undergraduate housing at their October 14th meeting.
A portion of this phase of the housing project will be located on north campus north of Avenue of Champions between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Lexington Avenue. As a result, the E/R1 (Blazer) parking lot and the Joe B. Hall Wildcat Lodge parking lot are scheduled to be closed Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, and the UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital employee parking lot is tentatively scheduled to be closed in mid-to-late December 2012 to facilitate construction.
The total loss from these lots represents 431 parking spaces (268 employee spots and 163 residential spots).
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS), in cooperation with Facilities Management, is implementing a mitigation plan to offer some limited additional alternatives for north campus employee parking. Specifically, PTS will be increasing the number or availability of spaces in several north campus parking lots.
The following areas are being considered for mitigation. More information will be posted as these projects develop and spaces are gained.
- College View (Marksbury Building Lot) - 10/22/12; 20 E spaces and 2 motorcycle spaces added
- Jersey Street E Lot - 11/01/12; reallocated 20 spaces from retail to E parking
- Scott Street E Lot
- Euclid Avenue (former R6 Lot) - 12/21/12; repaved and reopened with 18 E spaces
- LR Cooke Property
- Taylor Education E Lot - approximately 20 E spaces gained
