The lives of older Kentuckians have been enriched for more than 50 years by our lifelong learning programs, the Donovans and in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Our members have given generously for many years to ensure that the programs will serve new generations of learners. Our members invest in the future of lifelong learning in ways that best express their own beliefs and values.
Gift of Cash
An outright gift of cash is usually the simplest method of giving, and you can deduct the gift to the full extent of IRS rulings. Each year we conduct a phonathon, or your gift can be added to your registration each semester. If you would like to give now with a credit card, you can do so by going to http://www.uky.edu/GiveNow/welcome.htm.
Although we welcome and encourage outright gifts, there are also other ways to support lifelong learning at UK, through what is known as planned giving. Gifts may be made during your lifetime and under your Will. They may consist of cash, securities, life insurance, personal property or real estate.
As contradictory as it may seem, planned gifts can allow you to give and receive at the same time. Such a gift can often make it possible for you to give what you would like to give, rather than what you feel you can afford, because you actually receive income from the gift. The University of Kentucky Office of Development web site at http://www.uky.edu/Philanthropy/ provides some helpful basic information.
If you would like assistance in planning or making a gift, please contact Dr. Michael D. Smith, Executive Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, at (859) 218-0458.
