College of Public Health students graduating

“Part of the reason I chose the University of Kentucky College of Public Health (CPH) is due to the passion exhibited by the faculty and staff for the students as well as their research. I am currently working on research with Dr. Eddens, regarding the involvement of leveraging Appalachian social networks to increase cancer screening, and Dr. Johnson to model particulate matter in and around Appalachian surface mines. These folks are great. The interdisciplinary nature of public health really fosters a sense of camaraderie, but the UK CPH takes it a step further and makes everyone feel like family.”

MPH Candidate 2015, Biostatistics

“I spoke with a close friend who was enrolled in the UK College of Public Health going for his MPH. He told me about the staff’s boundless investment in student success, the diverse student body, and the willingness of all within those walls to go out of their way to make you feel at home. With my time in the college, I can see why the University of Kentucky College of Public Health is one of the top 25 public health institutions in the nation; in which, I am honored to attend.”
Ross C. Stanton
MPH Candidate 2014, Health Management and Policy

"It was difficult to ignore the U.S. News & World Report "Top 25 School of Public Health" sign while walking through campus. Once I started the program here, that ranking did not surprise me. You will find accomplished and friendly faculty and staff members everywhere you turn. You will love the environment; the small program size promotes learning, yet the large university offers a world of opportunities. I can't imagine having a better experience elsewhere!“

"My passion for gerontology and patient-centered care led me to pursue a master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) at the University of Kentucky. Faculty and staff facilitate ample networking opportunities with other departments within the College of Public Health, alumni, and leaders in healthcare across the country. Additionally, many students in the MHA program get the opportunity to work at our affiliated academic medical center, UK Healthcare, which ranks in the top 15 academic medical centers in the nation. Currently, I am working in the Office of Patient Experience at UK Healthcare to help identify best practices and quality improvement strategies for patients and families. As an out-of-state student, who only visited the university once prior to enrolling in classes for the fall semester, I can honestly say that I was welcomed with open arms by faculty and students with a willingness to help me in any way possible. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the best decision by choosing to earn my MHA degree from UK College of Public Health.“
Brandi Moore
MHA Candidate 2015

“I applied to the University of Kentucky because of its reputation and recognition as a Top 25 ranked university, but I chose UK because it was apparent that the faculty truly cared about improving the health status of the residents in the state. I could not be happier with my choice. I am continually amazed at how much the faculty and staff are invested in the students’ success and their willingness to help in any way that they can. I did not expect to see such a level of dedication in a graduate program and I believe that this factor sets UK apart. I am currently working as research assistant at the Kentucky Department for Public Health and I would not have had this opportunity, especially as a first year, were it not for the faculty here. I know that the education and connections I make here will allow me to be successful in any path I choose to follow.“
Colleen Roberts
MPH Candidate 2015, Epidemiology

"I feel that my experience at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health was a deciding factor in being selected for my fellowship. The small size of the program allowed me to have many opportunities, including my position as a research assistant, that I do not think I would have had otherwise. Furthermore, the faculty and staff at CPH really care about the students and take interest in their progress. I am extremely happy that I chose to complete my MPH program at UK!"
