Academic Common Market

Academic Common Market (ACM) is for college students who want to pursue degrees that are not offered at their in-state institutions. Students can enroll in out-of-state institutions that offer their degree program and pay the institution's in-state tuition rate.

Participating States:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Delaware
  • Florida*
  • Georgia
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • Oklahoma*
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas*
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia

*Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas do not participate at the undergraduate level.

Getting Started

The application process for ACM begins through the state contact for the student's home state. The required documentation from the student's home state will have to be completed. The student's UK Admission Letter can be used as a major verification. If additional major verification is needed, please contact residency@uky.edu.

ACM Status

The student will receive notification to their UK email address when the Registrar's Office has received notification of their ACM approval from the student's home state.

Please note that the student's account will be reviewed each semester to verify they are actively pursuing an ACM approved major/degree. A student's ACM status will be removed if their major is changed out of an approved ACM major/degree and their tuition will be assessed at the nonresident rate for future semesters.
