Registering for Winter Intersession


Continuing Students


Students currently enrolled in the 2017 fall semester enroll for Winter Intersession October 30 - November 21, 2017, during their Registration Window. The Winter Intersession is a separate term.

To register for a Winter Intersession course using myUK, choose “Acadademic Year 2017-2018, Winter Intersession 2017”.


New Students

Students not enrolled at UK for the fall semester must apply for admission to be eligible for the Winter Term. The priority deadline is October 15, 2017 for both degree seeking and non-degree seeking students. Students will receive registration instructions and information with their acceptance letters. The rate of tuition for students will be the same per credit hour as Spring 2018 rates. Students with 59 hours or less are considered lower division.

Lower Division Resident         $477.00
Lower Division Non-Resident    $1,145.00
Upper Division Resident    $490.00
Upper Division Non-Resident    $1,161.00


Graduate Student Resident                 $674.00 
Graduate Student Non-Resident    $1,644.00


Courses involving student travel charge fees to cover student travel costs; these travel fees are due well before the start of classes. Travel course fees are handled by the offering academic department and may be non-refundable.


After December 18

After December 18, students may not use myUK to drop or withdraw. To drop or withdraw after December 18, follow the instructions here.


Financial Aid

Financial aid is not available for the Winter Intersession.



The UK Bookstore, Kennedy Book Store, Wildcat Textbooks, and carry Winter Intersession books. 


Parking and Shuttle Information

Parking Structure 5 on Limestone is available for hourly parking.

During Winter Intersession, the Break Route will operate two buses on a 30-minute route (one every 15 minutes) around campus between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The service dates are:

•  Monday, December 18 through Friday, December 22 (no weekends)

•  Tuesday, January 2 through Tuesday, January 9 (no weekends)

Regular daytime Red and Blue service will resume Wednesday, January 11. Additional route and schedule information is available at: and


Weather-Related and Other Class Cancellations

If classes are cancelled due to severe weather, UK will alert local media, normally by 6:00 a.m. For the most up-to-date and complete information, call the UK Infoline at (859) 257-5684; turn to UK Cable Channel 16; or visit UK’s home page at:

If it becomes necessary to cancel any Winter Intersession classes for any reason, faculty will add sufficient additional time to all remaining class sessions to meet university requirements and complete course coverage.
