CONSTITUTION OF THE
COLLEGIATE RIFLE COACHES ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE I: The name of this organization shall be the
Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association.
ARTICLE II: The purposes of this organization shall be:
1. To promote the sport of rifle and NCAA
sponsorship of rifle teams among NCAA affiliated institutions.
2. To encourage intercollegiate rifle
competition in accordance with the highest traditions of good sportsmanship.
3. To correlate the sport of rifle with the
general objectives of education.
4. To instill within the coaches and shooters a
sense of responsibility in maintaining and conducting the sport of rifle.
5. To encourage an open exchange of information
among coaches, shooters and officials, pertaining to shooting techniques, sports medicine,
equipment, facilities, coaching, rules, training, conducting competitions and other
related subjects.
6. To recognize and award top competitors,
coaches and other contributors to the sport.
7. To recognize and award shooter athletes who
excelled at academics.
8. To publicize the sport of rifle locally,
nationally and within the NCAA.
Article III: Membership.
1. Regular membership shall be limited to collegiate
rifle coaches and their assistants.
2. Regular membership eligibility requires head
coaches, assistant coaches and volunteer coaches to be identified in official publications
or correspondence of the institutions sponsoring the sport of rifle.
3. Coach emeritus membership shall be granted only
upon nomination and vote of the members at the annual meeting. Coach emeritus members may
not vote and annual dues are waived.
Article IV: Dues.
1. The membership dues shall be ten dollars ($10.00)
per fiscal year, payable to the Treasurer upon official notification.
2. Members delinquent in their dues, will be
dropped from the rolls.
Article V: Officers and Duties.
1. Association officers shall be a president,
vice-president and secretary-treasurer.
2. The president shall preside at all association
meetings, arrange the date, meeting place, and appoint all committees and liaison
personnel required to conduct the affairs of the Association and serve as a member of the
executive committee.
3. The vice-president shall at the direction of or in
the absence of the president, perform the functions of the president and serve as a member
of the executive committee.
4. The secretary-treasurer shall keep all records of
the Association , collect, dues, pay Association bills, assume general charge of all
monies belonging to the Association, render a financial statement to the members at the
annual meeting, report in writing the minutes of the annual business meeting to the total
membership and serve as a member of the executive committee.
Article VI: Elections.
1. All officers shall be elected for a term of one
(1) year, extending from the close of the annual business meeting at which they are
elected to the close of the next annual meeting at which their successors may be elected.
2. All officers may serve for a maximum of three
consecutive years in the same position.
3. Two executive committee members will be elected
annually to serve under the same conditions and terms as the president, vice president and
secretary treasurer.
Article VII: Meetings.
1. There shall be one meeting each year. The annual
business meeting will be held in conjunction with the NCAA Rifle Championships.
Article VIII: Voting and Surveys.
1. Each institution represented in the membership of
the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association shall be entitled to one vote.
2. Voting eligibility at the annual meeting requires
at least one person with paid up dues from an institution to be present.
3. The members of the Association from each
institution shall determine among themselves how the vote of that institution shall be
cast.
4. Votes and surveys may be conducted by mail or fax.
Article IX: Committees of the Collegiate Rifle Coaches
Association.
1. An executive committee consisting of the officers
and two additional members elected at the annual meeting shall conduct the affairs of the
association between annual meetings.
2. Committees to determine All-Academic and Coach of
the Year, to conduct Team Rankings for publication in NCAA News and other endeavors to
promote the purposes of the organization will be selected at the annual meeting.
Article X: Amendment.
1. This constitution may be amended at the annual
meeting.
2. A majority vote of voting members present at the
annual meeting shall be required for amendment.
