Staff Senate 2014 Election Information

The Staff Senate will hold University-wide elections this spring. The nomination period will run March 24 through April 4, and voting will run from April 21 through May 2. Please find the guidelines and nomination form near the bottom of the page. All UK employees serving in staff positions with a .75 full time equivalency (FTE) or greater and one year of continuous employment by April 1 (including those with faculty appointments) are eligible to run and vote in the Staff Senate elections.
Voting and nominations are conducted through four sectors that cover the University:
Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration (EVPFA)
Executive Vice President for Health Affairs (EVPHA)
Ex.: A staff person employed by Auxiliary Services is in the EVPFA sector. For those uncertain about their sectors, business officers and supervisors may be consulted for that information.
Nominations are taken according to sectors, and prospective candidates may click on the link below to view openings.
Please consider the following facts in deciding whether to self-nominate for the Senate:
University service by senators
Staff Senators are asked to serve on a variety of decision making and reporting committees such as strategic planning, regulations, work life, new budget model, e.g.
Five senators currently serving on Strategic Planning committees
Many senators contribute personal time to campus programming and improvement Senators provide leadership within their work units
Benefits for colleges, departments, units for Senate service
Opportunity for employees to have involvement in University service
Creates sense of University ownership for employees
Vehicle for communication about university initiatives and decision making
Involvement in decisions that affect the entire University, such as raise allocations, review and revision of ARs and GRs, budgeting, etc.
