As a public land-grant institution our mission compels us to lead in creating an environment that encourages a collaboration of people of all identities and serving as a model of inclusivity and diversity for the commonwealth. The institution plans to further diversify its campus by developing a comprehensive plan to expose our community to the world of ideas and people, integrate those experiences thoughtfully and holistically, and create a campus that is welcoming, inclusive, and embraces the ideas of people of all identities.
The University of Kentucky considers improvements in faculty and staff diversity as an important component of the university’s greater success and growing prominence among U.S. institutions of higher education. UK aims to become one of the most inclusive places in the state, in terms of both demographic diversity and variety of ideas. By building upon this distinctiveness, the institution plans to develop a comprehensive strategy to improve diversity and inclusion.
