Group Fitness Classes
The Bernard Johnson Student Recreation Center offers a variety of classes throughout the year including hi/low aerobics‚ step aerobics‚ muscle conditioning‚ yoga‚ spinning‚ pilates‚ and more! Each class is designed and taught by trained instructors to help individuals of varying fitness levels and capabilities work towards their optimal level of fitness. CARDIO
Cardio Dance
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or new to the scene, this choreographed class will feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms combine to tone and sculpt your body! New, energizing music will keep you coming back each week!
Cycling
This intense workout incorporates basic cycling moves‚ cardio‚ and strength based on time‚ speed‚ and recovery. If you're new to cycling, come a few minutes early and we'll get your bike set up! *Water bottle and towel are required!
*Endurance Ride
The same intense group cycling workout only for 90 minutes! BE SURE to bring a towel and a water bottle!
*H.I.I.T
In this high intensity interval training class, your instructor will take you to the limit, alternating between periods of exertion and rest intervals. Be prepared to feel the burn! LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
Hip Hop
Lose your inhibitions and get fit to the beat! Whether you think you can dance or not, we'll get your body grooving to fresh dance combinations sure to keep you coming back each week!
Kickboxing
Try a high impact, total body cardiovascular workout designed after traditional boxing. This session incorporates both lower and upper body exercises ensuring to raise your heart rate. All fitness levels welcome!
Step
Experience a fun, cardiovascular workout with easy to follow step-combincations! Perfect for all levels- you control your intensity level by simply adjusting the step height!
ZUMBA!
The fusion of Latin and International dance moves create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of easy to follow dance steps that tone and sculpt the body’s muscles!
ZUMBA! Toning
Combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin infused ZUMBA moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training, dance-fitness party!
CARDIO AND MUSCLE CONDITIONING
Boot Camp
This circuit style class involves a series of strength as well as cardio exercises. You never know what’s coming next at Boot Camp…just make sure you’re ready to sweat! Try out the "At Home" Fitness Boot Camp Video!
Cardio Pump
The ultimate total body-conditioning workout that combines both cardio and strength training exercises. Be prepared to keep that heart rate up through both floor and step routines.
H.A.B.I.T
Hips, Abs, Butt, Inner Thigh! A Cardio and sculpting class designed to target them all!
Kick, Punch, Crunch!
A high-energy cardio kickboxing class incorporating various core strengthening techniques.
Outdoor Boot Camp
Everything you love about boot camp - taken outdoors! Class will meet outside of the group fitness studio, and will go on rain or shine. Remember to wear old shoes (might get dirty), and bring a water bottle and a towel! ***Monday evening Outdoor Boot Camp class is subject to cancelation for inclement weather (i.e. lightning/severe storms). ***Friday morning Outdoor Boot Camp class will go rain or shine!
Piloxing®

R.I.P.P.E.D.®
The One Stop Body Shock! A high energy body conditioning class incorporating Resistance, Interval, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance training. This class will target all muscle groups by combining free weights and anaerobic conditioning. Designed to tone your body, improve muscular strength and increase cardiovascular endurance.
Step & Sculpt
Get a total body workout with this intense combination of a cardio workout and a variety of strengthening exercises. This class is sure to improve coordination, endurance, and strength.Try out the "At Home" Cardio Sculpt Video!
20/20/15
This total body conditioning class involves 20 minutes of basic step- perfect for beginners and experienced steppers, followed by 20 minutes of floor cardio, including kickboxing and hi-lo. This class concludes with 15 minutes of body sculpting
STRENGTH AND TONING
Barbell Blast
This barbell program brings fun to your workout by matching movement to music using traditional strength training exercises, allowing you to work at your own level! Have a blast while building strength through your entire body!
Body Sculpt
Sculpt and tone your body from head to toe! This class will work on strength focusing on the FITM principles to help you reach your goals!
Core Blast
This power-packed class trains and strengthens the core; including the abdominal and back muscles.

30-minutes of strength building exercises targeting your entire body and core!
Raise the Bar
This barbell program brings fun to your workout by matching movement to music using traditional strength training exercises, allowing you to work at your own level! Have a blast while building strength through your entire body!
MIND/BODY
Core Flow
This intermediate class is a series of breath-synchronized asanas which are linked to one another through flowing movements targeting and strengthening your body's core!
Gentle Yoga
This class involves gentle stretches, breathing, relaxation, and simple movements to increase range of motion of the major joints. It is appropriate for those who are new to Yoga or just want to move at a slower pace! LEVEL: Beginner.
Pilates
Prepare to work your Powerhouse! Based on the teaching of Joseph Pilates, this class is designed to effectively train the body’s core for function in everyday life! We will work on toning and strengthening your abs, lower back, arms, and legs – all while improving flexibility.
Power Yoga
This class uses postures, breath, gaze and locks to create a lean, strong body. This invigorating, heat-producing practice detoxifies the system, realigns the body and energizes the spirit. Be prepared to sweat, work hard, and challenge yourself! LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
Yoga
This ancient practice includes breathwork (pranayama), postures (asanas), and meditation (dhyana), and is appropriate for all levels. It is a total body workout which exercises the muscles, the skeleton, and the spirit!
TRX CLASSES
TRX Circuit
Come enjoy a boot-camp style workout on the TRX! This class will involve various strength and cardio intervals designed to challenge your body to the limit!
*TRX Performance
Whether you’re a serious athlete striving for your personal best or just want to get in awesome shape, this class using the TRX will take you through a fun yet challenging total-body program building strength, stability, and flexibility – fast! LEVEL: For those who have had prior TRX experience.
TRX Strength:
Learn everything you need to know about basic TRX principles, how to use the equipment, and how to perform total body strength movements using the TRX.
Additional Information
- Aerobic classes may be changed according to demand.
- All classes are on a first come‚ first serve basis.
- Any class that has less than an avgergae of 5 participants for 3 consecutive classes could be dropped from the schedule.
