The 1‚400 square foot climbing and bouldering wall has terrain that will challenge everyone from the beginner to the advanced. Come out and get involved with this exciting program.
Informal or drop–in climbing is available any time the wall is open for Johnson Center members who have registered at the Outdoor Pursuits Desk.
This 1½ hour course will teach you the basics of climbing‚ belaying‚ and safety. After taking this course you are eligible to take the belay test on your next visit.
Wall Introduction and Test
Experienced climbers who have climbed/belayed‚ indoor or outdoor‚ more than 10 times but havenot climbed at the Johnson Centercan become eligible to take the belay test without attending the Fundamentals class. Simply pass a written safety test administered at the climbing desk and then move on to the belay test. Upon passing these tests‚ the climber will be able to climb/belay at the facility during any open wall hours. If a climber fails either test‚ it is required that the Climbing Fundamentals course be taken‚ and the belay test be retaken.
