15 to Finish

15 to Finish is an exciting campaign that encourages Kentucky college students to graduate on time by completing at least 15 credits a semester, or 30 a year. Most full-time students take less than 15 credit hours and don’t finish on time, adding the costs of extra semesters.

Bulletin / Course Catalog

The Bulletin (also called the course catalog) is your contract with UK. The University publishes the undergraduate Bulletin each academic year. Students are bound by the academic policies and curricula of the Bulletin for the semester in which they enroll into a degree program.

Cheating & Plagiarism (Academic Integrity)

All incidents of cheating and plagiarism are taken very seriously at the University of Kentucky, and there are specific policies and procedures in place to prosecute them.

Chellgren Fellowships

The Chellgren Student Fellows Program is designed to provide experiences for outstanding undergraduates that go beyond classroom instruction in order to help them cultivate extraordinary academic achievement.

Dead Week Support & Concerns

The last week of a regular semester and the last three days of a summer session is called “dead week.” Below is a summary of the dead week policy. For the complete Senate Rule pertaining to Dead Week, see S.R. 5.2.4.6 (pdf). Note that Dead Week Rules apply only to undergraduate students.

Degree Audit (Plan your courses)

The APEX degree audit software will offer an opportunity to evaluate a student’s current progress within their respective degree program and minor. Also provided to students are the means to explore their options from among a list of degree programs, majors, and minors. The students’ exploration can extend to the planned course feature allowing each student to be prepared for both their scheduled advising session and registration period.

English as a Second Language

The Center for ESL assists students in achieving their language proficiency goals for academic, professional, and social purposes.

Enriched Course of Instruction

The Honors Program at the University of Kentucky will provide opportunities for students to take challenging classes in many disciplines across the diversity of colleges at UK.

Exchange Students

The University of Kentucky welcomes exchange students from our partner institutions.  We help students make the most of their visit by introducing them to campus life through K Week International, which includes a check-in workshop, orientations, advising conferences, and social events.

Faculty Mentors

One of the major functions of the Office of Undergraduate Research is the pairing of faculty mentors with undergraduate students to create a formalized, meaningful research experience.

Gaines Center Fellowships

The John R. and Joan B. Gaines Fellowship in the Humanities is a one-of-a-kind undergraduate program to enrich the undergraduate experience in the humanities in a culture where science and technology are increasingly dominating.

  First Generation College Students

Being a first generation (1G) college student means neither of your parents earned a Bachelor's degree, regardless of siblings and other relatives.

First Scholars Program

First Scholars addresses the unique challenges of students who are the first in their families to attend college and supports them as they obtain a degree.

Freshman Programs (CARES)

 

The CARES office offers a number of programs for Freshman, incuding: Critical First Year Program, The Multicultural Student Fall Orientation, First Year Focus Seminars, and more.

Additionally, the Office of New Student & Parent Programs seeks to ease the transition of new students to the University of Kentucky through K Week, UK 101/201, the Common Reading Experience, and the K Book. Freshman Summer Program

FSP is a six week residential enrichment program designed to orient first year students to academic and student life at UK.

General Chemistry Learning Center

The General Chemistry Learning Center is located in CP-133 and is open to any student needing help with 100-level general chemistry classes. All help is provided on a drop-in basis by TAs from the general chemistry lab courses.

Peer Tutoring

Academic Enhancement's Peer Tutoring Program, located in The Study, offers drop-in group tutoring in over thirty courses.  The goal is to enhance students' academic experiences through collaborative learning, peer-to peer support, and an energetic, scholarly atmosphere.  This free service is available to all UK students, and no appointments are necessary.

Residence Life

Residence Life manages on-campus housing for undergraduates and supports students in their academic and personal goals.  It oversees the assignments process, hires and supervises the staff members who live in the residence halls, coordinates the Living Learning programs, helps maintain safe, secure, and inclusive environments, provides leadership development and involvement opportunities, and supports students’ academic efforts by keeping in touch with their progress and connecting them with out-of-classroom resources.

Robinson Scholars

The Robinson Scholars Program serves first generation college-bound and college students who have demonstrated the potential to succeed but who might encounter economic, cultural, or institutional impediments to their completion of four-year college degrees.

AMSTEMM serves those students who are underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) majors. This includes students who are from any Appalachian county or minority students (African American, American Indian, Hispanic, and Pacific Islander).
