UK students work hard for their academic success and work even harder in their organizations and involvement on campus. Why not get rewarded for all that hard work? UK Student Government Association currently has five scholarships and awards available for outstanding students.
The first is the Lyman T. Johnson Odyssey Award. This scholarship will be awarded to one student who has demonstrated a sincere commitment to working for the betterment of the campus and/or community. Lyman T. Johnson was the first African-American student to enroll at the University of Kentucky, so this $3,000 scholarship is given in his honor. Applicants are required to write an essay in which they explain why they exhibit three certain criteria: they have demonstrated a high degree of personal integrity; they have dedicated themselves to the betterment of the campus and/or community; and they have overcome challenges and obstacles on the path to success.
