Pick It Up is simple:
Wildcats don't walk past litter, We pick it up.
Pick It Up is a multi-faceted campaign with a single goal: ELIMINATE LITTER ON THE CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY. The program has been developed to supplement and recognize the outstanding work our Grounds teams do on a daily basis to keep the campus clean and to prevent litter from reaching local water ways. The program will embrace both top-down and grassroots initiatives to energize widespread efforts across the campus and throughout our organizational structure to achieve the goal of a litter free campus. For more information please contact Shane Tedder at firstname.lastname@example.org or 859-257-0014.
Adopt-a-Spot is a participatory program as part of the Pick It Up campaign designed to engage student groups in keeping campus clean. As part of the program, student groups symbolically "adopt a spot" of campus and commit to completing a litter sweep of their zone once a week for four weeks. For every completed sweep, groups send us a picture of their work and we provide them with $25, making a potential $100 towards the groups efforts. These efforts keep trash from being swept down drains and into our waterways. It also serves to increase diversion from the landfill due to the heavy emphasis on recycling eligible materials. The latest Adopt-a-Spot campaign is taking place this April. For more information on adopting a spot, please email email@example.com.
