I park my car at Kroger Field. I was told that I have to move my car before home football games. Where and when can I move my car before the football game? What happens if I leave it in the Stadium parking lot?

Vehicles parked at Kroger Field must be removed from any stadium parking lot before 7 a.m. on the day of a home football game. Additionally, no parking on University Drive is permitted on game days. Failure to move any vehicle from the stadium parking lots could result in a citation and impoundment at the owner’s expense.

Please refer to the Football Game Day Parking page for specific lot relocation information. All vehicles may be moved to most intermediate E lots after 3:30 p.m. on Friday and should be returned to Kroger Field by 5 a.m. on Monday.

I park at the stadium during the week. Can I park any closer to my residence hall on the weekends? My friend said that I could park in the R lots because all of the parking lots are only controlled Monday through Friday. Is that true?

Most R lots are controlled 24 hours a day, including weekends. However, you may park in any intermediate E or C parking lot after 3:30 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. Monday. Don't forget to move your car back to the Stadium on Sunday or you could get a ticket while you're in class Monday morning.

I brought my bike to campus. Can I lock it up anywhere as long as I'm not blocking pedestrian traffic?

While we encourage people to ride on campus, bicycles have a set of regulations similar to motor vehicles. You are required to use one of the many bicycle racks on campus to park. Locking your bike to a bench or a building's handrail will get it impounded. Impoundment carries with it a fine, plus buying a new lock..

You may review the bicycle regulations.

I need to go to the W.T. Young Library. Is there somewhere close where I can park?

Students with valid C, R, K, or Off-Peak permits may park in both E lots located behind W.T. Young Library off Columbia Avenue; students who have valid C, R, K or evening permits with a barcode may also park in the Rose Street Garage (PS #2) located at the end of Hilltop Avenue near Rose Street. The accessible hours for student permits are between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. The large E lot and the Rose Street Garage are also available all day Saturday and Sunday.

Visitor parking is available in the pay parking lot in front of W.T. Young Library located off Hilltop Avenue day or night. After 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday, visitors may park for free in the large E lot located behind the Library. The small E lot located behind W.T. Young Library requires a UK permit at all times.

I need to park for just a few minutes to run into a campus building. Will leaving my hazard lights on help me avoid a citation?

No. Transportation Services does not condone this activity as short-term legal parking. If your vehicle is illegally parked, no matter the duration, you may receive a parking citation.

I would like to go work out at the Johnson Center. Where is the best place to park?

The location of the Sports Center Garage (PS#7, at the corner of Complex and Sports Center Drives) was designed, in part, to alleviate parking demand for visitors to the Johnson Center. The structure is reserved for R7 permit holders and paying visitors. If you wish to visit the center and do not have an R7 permit, you may choose to park in the structure and pay an hourly rate. The Sports Center Garage is also within walking distance of the Seaton/Lancaster Aquatic Center Complex, South Campus residence halls and Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC).

Since classes last a minimum of 50 minutes, why are the meters around main campus only 45 minutes? Is this just a ploy to give students tickets?

45-minute meters within the Academic Core are designed for short-term use. Because of the limited number of parking spaces inside the Academic Core, these meters were not installed to allow students to park close for class or for employees to go to meetings. The primary intent was to provide short-term parking for departments such as the Registrar, Admissions, Housing, and the Visitor Center. If you require visitor parking for longer than 45 minutes, you may use the 3-hour meters located farther from the Academic Core or park and pay in the South Limestone Garage (PS#5, next to Kennedy's Wildcat Den).
