Ms. Cammie DeShields Grant graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Speech Pathology and earned a 5th year Certification in Elementary Education.  While at UK, she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.  During her thirty-year career as an educator, Grant served as Chair of the Department of Speech Pathology in the Coweta County Public Schools in Newnan, GA.  After returning to her home state of Kentucky, Grant continued her career with the Clark County Public Schools in Winchester. She was elected to four terms on the Clark Middle School Site Based Decision Making Council, served five years as an educational team leader, was selected to be a Clark County representative at the Kentucky Center for Instructional Discipline, and was elected to the Clark County Certified Appeals Panel. She also served the Clark County Public Schools as an Instructional Resource Specialist and Special Education Facilitator.

Grant has been active with the UK Alumni Association, and was elected National President of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association (2011-12).  She continues to serve on the Past National President’s Advisory Council and the Association’s Board of Directors. She was honored in 2006 with the UK Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Award.

Grant continues to serve and advocate for students as a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers’ Education Association, National Education Association, and the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association. She is involved with the Clark Regional Foundation for the Promotion of Health, volunteers with Clark County Community Services and the Salvation Army, and is a member of Winchester Fine Arts. Grant is an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Winchester.

She and her husband, Will, are life members of the UK Alumni Association. They enjoy traveling, volunteering in their community, walking their dogs, following the Cats, and supporting all things UK.
