June 19, 2008 University of Kentucky FCU Phishing Notification
Recently, UKFCU members have reported receiving a “phishing” phone call appearing to be from the Commonwealth Credit Union fraud center claiming that “We have detected fraud on your account and you need to call us at the number provided to verify your account information.” The phone numbers being given are NOT the numbers for the Commonwealth Credit Union nor for the UK Federal Credit Union and are the numbers for a criminal ring looking to obtain account information. This is a fraudulent call and DID NOT come from the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union or Commonwealth Credit Union. If you are unsure if the call is from our actual fraud department please contact us for verification at the number listed below.
THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU AND REQUEST THAT YOU UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION. WE ENCOURAGE OUR MEMBERS TO DISREGARD ANY PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS REQUESTING PERSONAL AND/OR ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
If you receive this phone call, disregard it and under no circumstances provide any information. If you have provided your personal information, contact the credit union immediately at (859) 264-4200 or 800-234-UKCU (8528) to report it.
