HPC Matlab README

Supercomputer documentation is always a work in progress! Please email questions, corrections, or suggestions to the HPC support team at help-hpc@uky.edu as usual. Thanks!

If you are new to the site, please read the Getting Started Guide. If you haven't used the HPC complex recently, then see the README FIRST file.

Getting Started with Matlab

The Wikipedia entry says: MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. Developed by MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java, and Fortran.

The MATLAB product page says: MATLAB® is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Using MATLAB, you can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. The language, tools, and built-in math functions enable you to explore multiple approaches and reach a solution faster than with spreadsheets or traditional programming languages, such as C/C++ or Java™.
