Distance Learning Programs offers many options to students, providing the ability to work on courses from practically anywhere. Distance Learning courses are taught at the same academic level as fully on-campus courses. The University of Kentucky ensures that students taking distance learning courses receive the same quality education they would receive in a face-to-face classroom.

To be successful in a hybrid or online academic environment, many different characteristics are important. These characteristics include:Online Learning Readiness

  • Self-motivated and independent learner
  • Good time management skills
  • High comfort level with technology
  • Ability to work without distraction for an extended period of time
  • Comfortable communicating in a virtual environment

Technical Requirements

In order to have a successful educational experience in distance learning courses, there are minimum technology requirements that should be met. University of Kentucky distance learning students are also encouraged to acquire the following hardware, software, and Internet connection to ensure that all systems used by distance learning courses will function properly.
