K Week

Dozens of activities make K Week 2008 one of the most exciting weeks at the University of Kentucky. UK’s fall welcome week includes activities for freshmen and transfer students, returning students, and UK faculty and staff.  A complete calendar of events can be found at www.uky.edu/KWeek, with dozens of opportunities for our new students to meet people, learn more about campus resources, and immerse themselves in the UK community.

All new students are expected to attend UK's New Student Induction Ceremony, scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 23, in Memorial Coliseum.   At the Induction Ceremony, they will be welcomed by President Lee T. Todd, Jr. and other University leaders and will be officially inducted into the UK family.  Other Saturday highlights for students include Big Blue U and Campus Ruckus at Commonwealth Stadium.

The fall semester kicks off with one of the largest community service projects in Kentucky - UK For Unity and Service in Our Neighborhoods (UK FUSION) - which is scheduled Monday, August 25. Last year, about 1,300 students, staff and faculty contributed nearly 5,000 hours in one day of community service in 62 Lexington neighborhoods and social service agencies. For more information, visit www.ukfusion.org.

Other K Week activities focus on safety, money management, tips for classroom success,  fitness and health, the libraries, clubs and organizations, living learning communities, employment, parking, volunteerism and much, much more. K Week activities will give new students the tools they need to succeed at UK.
