The University of Kentucky is committed to providing a supportive learning environment and fostering safe, healthy relationships among our students. As such, the institution and members of our community will not tolerate the offenses of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This program is intended to help you learn more about these issues, as you play a crucial role in keeping our campus safe.
To ensure that all students receive vital information about policies, laws, options, and resources, ALL INCOMING STUDENTS, regardless of year or program are required to complete Part 1 of the online Haven course by August 21st, 2017. To access Haven, click here.
What technical information do I need to know?
To take the course, you will need a computer with internet access and audio capabilities. We suggest using updated versions of Chrome and Firefox. If you do not have access to a computer, you can use any available computer with internet access such as those at your public library or the on-campus computer labs.
Why do I have to take Haven?
We believe this program will both provide useful information to students and help us shape a safer campus community. Federal law requires that colleges and universities make students aware of policies and resources related to sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence. UK has chosen Haven as a tool to ensure students receive this information.
Who is required to take Haven?
Haven is required for all incoming students undergraduate, graduate, professional to complete.
Can my advisor remove my hold?
An automated system checks the status of student completion daily and typically removes holds within 24 hours. Advisors are not authorized to remove these holds.
Will my information be private?
Please note the courses may include questions to help personalize your experience and measure your attitudes and behaviors. All responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see any individual student's answers.
I've taken Haven before, at another institution - do I have to take it again?
Yes. As each individual university has its own specific policies and resources, we request that ALL incoming students take Haven, even those who have been through the program at another institution.
