Gameday Matters
As we embark on another football season here at UK, I would like to remind everyone how important it is to be a good neighbor. The UK campus is located in the heart of Lexington, which provides our students, faculty and staff with countless benefits. From restaurants and coffee shops to an arts and cultural scene filled with a wide array of entertainment options, UK and the city of Lexington are focused on making sure the Town & Gown corridor remains the vibrant pulse of Central Kentucky. It is important to remember that the University shares our streets and neighborhoods with the diverse residents that make this city a great place to live, work and raise a family. To that end, I want to encourage all of us to be cognizant of our neighbors. If you are living in a neighborhood adjacent to campus, please make sure your property remains clean and orderly. I also encourage you to take some time to familiarize yourself with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government ordinances.
I hope to see all of you cheering for our Wildcats at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturdays throughout the fall. As members of the UK family, I hope you will join me in helping us set a positive example for the rest of our fans. I want UK to not only be known for having a great team on the field, but for having the most passionate and respectful fans in the nation.
Making sure our campus community and surrounding neighborhoods remain safe, inviting and welcoming places to live is our collective responsibility. I hope University of Kentucky students, faculty and staff will take a leadership role in such an effort.
