State of the University remarks celebrate accomplishments of UK family

Fellow Members of the UK Community:

You are invited to the annual State of the University Address at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, on the Patterson Office Tower plaza. You can enjoy a free lunch starting at 11 a.m., and many student organizations will have tables set up providing information about their missions and activities.

This event offers us the opportunity to reflect on the strides we have made toward becoming a Top 20 public university despite economic difficulties, and to set goals for our future. It is an excellent time to acknowledge the tremendous effort you, our outstanding students, faculty and staff, make every day for this University.

NBC sports broadcaster and UK alumnus, Tom Hammond, will serve as emcee, and Student Government President Ryan M. Smith and I will deliver the State of the University Address.

A new feature this year -- the event can be viewed via live streaming on UKNow at www.uky.edu/uknow, your source for University news. Also, in case of rain, the alternate location for lunch will be the covered area outside the White Hall Classroom Building, and the State of University Address can be viewed on UKNow.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Lee T. Todd, Jr.
