"-The very clear goal of the University of Kentucky is to move into the very elite of academic institutions.
-He challenged all of us as faculty to stretch and become part of the top 20.
-If we just count research dollars, and that’s how we get there, by knocking number 20 out of its position, by doing research that Washington and corporations want us to do, we could fail this state.  I think we have a higher purpose, and that purpose is to change this state.
-The Top 20 Plan is looking at all of Kentucky, as opposed to just the school.
-Whatever research I do I can use it to help the outside.

-We like to say that the campus of the University of Kentucky is the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
-I don't think there are many institutions that are so uniquely positioned and that have such a vulnerable population that need support.
-There are a lot of areas in Kentucky that don't have enough healthcare.
-Having the best health profession colleges here, the best hospital here, and those kinds of things will help us reach out into the community and all of the rural areas of the state to actually help people.
-That Top 20 Plan is what we're able to do for mankind, for people.
-What we want to do is serve the needs of people in Kentucky.
-For it to really hit home here is what matters.  You know, these are friends of friends of family that we all know and for it to all go back and help our people immediately is, I mean, it's the greatest thing that could be.

-The best students at UK are equal to the best students I've worked with at Hopkins or at Harvard or at Penn.  
-The faculty and staff are great; pushing us and wanting us to succeed.
-We get the best professors and they are so knowledgeable in their fields and you can just go to them and not only talk about the coursework and the curriculum, but you can talk about research that they're doing.
-It makes me feel so proud to be a part of this organization when the best students in Kentucky feel like they can come here and get a world-class education.
-They were promising an education that would rival any of the Ivy Leagues, and it has.

-Today the University of Kentucky is moving ahead in some very dynamic and exciting ways.
-There's this incredible level of enthusiasm about what we're going to be able to accomplish here and what we're going to be able to build.
-Everyone around campus just wants to work harder and to just live up to those expectations that everyone holds for them.
-It has a financial basis growing because of financial support not just the university but the Legislature, the population of the state, and I think it has some great places to go.
-It's exciting to be part of a growing team with a mission of excellence.
-Right now this is Kentucky's moment.

-If you want a state that is healthier, that is more enlightened, that has a thriving economy, you really have to have higher education, and UK is the best hope for the state of Kentucky to get there, and I think we're making headway.
-The Top 20 Plan is going to change not only the university but Lexington and the entire Commonwealth.
-It will be neat to look back and say, yes, we started the process helped to get it along the way.
-I think as students, we feel that we are top 20 already; I think we all know that we go to a great university, we wanted to come here and we love it, and we're just ready for the rest of the world to understand that with us.

-You know Kentucky is all about seeing blue.

-Everybody always talks about how here at UK, we bleed blue, but now we get to see blue and know that we are all unified together.
-It's a constant reminder of all the amazing opportunities available at the University of Kentucky.
