A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT LEE T. TODD, JR.

The University of Kentucky is proud to partner with state and local officials, community partners and Kentucky’s world-famous equine industry to help the Commonwealth put its best foot forward for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. When visitors from around the globe descend upon the Bluegrass this fall, students, faculty, staff and alumni will be engaged in a myriad of projects that highlight the depth and breadth of this institution. Our WEG work extends across the campus community and our partnerships show the world how UK values its role in creating a better Kentucky.

The Horse is at the Heart of what we do

UK is a world leader in equine research, teaching and extension. The College of Agriculture has an equine focus that includes a collaborative team of more than 50 faculty and staff. Highlights include the Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center, the only dedicated equine health and disease research institute in the U.S., where vaccines used against six of the 10 most commonly encountered equine infectious diseases today were developed. UK’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory safeguards the health of Kentucky’s animal population and has the highest equine caseload in the world. UK also has a four-year bachelor of science undergraduate degree that has attracted students to UK from 24 states, a strong foundation in equine nutrition research, an outstanding equine 4-H program and comprehensive equine education programs for adults.

UK HEALTHCARE – OFFICIAL MEDICAL PROVIDER

UK HealthCare is mobilizing doctors, nurses and other providers to ensure participants and spectators at the 2010 Games receive the full menu of medical services, from first aid to advanced critical care. Details
