Periodontal Ligament

A number of cell types are found within the PDL (A), the most predominant being fibroblasts and macrophages. The principal cell type is the fibroblast and the principal intercellular substance is collagen. Ground substance is composed of glycosaminoglycans, glycoproteins, and glycolipids.
