Philosophy 100: Knowledge and Reality

This course is an introduction to philosophy. The course has two main objectives:

  1. to give you a sense of what philosophers think about and why; and
  2. to develop your philosophical skills, and your critical and argumentative skills more generally.

We achieve this through consideration of some perennial philosophical problems, e.g., the existence of God, reason and faith, personal identity and immortality and the nature of knowledge and justified belief. We will draw on readings by important figures in the history of philosophy as well as contemporary authors.
