.......Southeast Community College student William Short has traveled around the world, but he still loves " these Kentucky hills" the most and enjoys attending SECC.

......."Southeast is a family-oriented college," he said.

.......Short was born in Harlan and raised in Cumberland. After graduating from Cumberland High School, he joined the Marine Corps, where he is a sergeant.

.......He was enlisted for four years before he was granted an honorable discharge to attend college to prepare himself for the future.

.......Short is vice-president of the student council. He said his favorite teacher would have to be Wanda Lewis. " she has been my friend for years and has always guided me in the right path," Short added.

.......Education is a vital part of Short's life, as he plans to reach the Ph.D. level. Short is majoring in Management Information Systems and is currently a database of the government.

.......When asked about his favorite hobbies, Short replied, " I enjoy fishing, football, and playing Sega." His favorite football team is the San Fransico 49'ers, and he also enjoys listening to country music. Short attends Dione Baptist Church.

.......Short advises other students, " Take college seriously, but don't get so stressed out that your life turns upside down. Just try not to make it harder than it really is."
