Access assignment 1

(Due: April 6, 2005 at 3pm)


1.      Create a folder on your computer/diskette (if you are in the lab, create this in the My Documents folder) called ####case1 where #### is the last four digits of your student number.

2.      Create another folder on your computer/diskette (if you are in the lab, create this in the My Documents folder) called xxxx where xxxx is your full name.

3.      Download data files from the Web:

(a)    Start your browser and enter the URL http://www.course.com/catalog/downloads.cfm?isbn=0-619-20672-1

(b)   Click on the link "Data Files (Access 2003 Comprehensive) (1.66MB)under Data Files for Students (Windows)

(c)    When the File Download dialog box opens, save the file 20672-1d.exe onto the folder bearing your full name (i.e., folder xxxx) and click "save"

(d)   Double click the file 20672-1d.exe and unzip the files onto the folder xxxx.

 

 

If your last name starts with A-F, then do these:

4.      Copy all the files from xxxx\Intro\Case1 folder onto the folder bearing your student number (i.e., folder ####case1).

5.      Open the file Clients.mdb from your ####case1 folder and rename all the tables with your name attached to it (e.g., Anita’s Shoot).

6.      Complete tasks 2-12 of Case Problem 1 on page AC212 of your Access text.  Skip printing the results of your query.

7.      Complete task 5 of Case Problem 1 on page AC278 of your Access text.  Skip printing the form.

8.      Create a zip version of your ###case1 folder and submit your ####case1.zip through blackboard).

 

 

If your last name starts with H-Z, then do these:

4.      Copy all the files from xxxx\Intro\Case2 folder onto the folder bearing your student number (i.e., folder ####case1).

5.      Open the file Delivery.mdb from your ####case1 folder and rename all the tables with your name attached to it (e.g., Anita's Order).

6.      Complete tasks 2-12 of Case Problem 2 on page AC213 of your Access text.  Skip printing the results of your query.

7.      Complete task 5 of Case Problem 2 on page AC280 of your Access text.  Skip printing the form.

8.      Create a zip version of your ###case1 folder and submit your ####case1.zip through blackboard).
